We will begin with a comprehensive introduction covering the final years of late Anglo-Saxon England, as well as the Duchy of Normandy, and from there we will proceed to cover the entirety of the political and military history of the Norman Kings of England. In this module, we will introduce the chaotic world of late Anglo-Saxon England, and lay the groundwork for the tale of William's audacious conquest - the story of how an illegitimate Norman duke successfully conquered one of the most cohesive kingdoms in Western Europe.
